Overview

The case study briefs about my technical contribution at YourSpace, a youth housing‬ startup.

I engineered a comprehensive backend system for youth housing‬‭ using Ruby on Rails, Postgres, and AWS, supporting 10,000+ users‬, integrated 10+ key features including onboarding, resident‬‭ contracts, lead management, and payments. Also, I led a team of 2 developers to build the backend of the application.

Impact - the work led to an increase in user‬‭ engagement by 25% and operational efficiency by 30%.‬ ‭

Objectives

1. User-Centric Design: The platform is tailored to meet the needs of diverse residents, including students and working professionals, ensuring flexibility in service offerings.
2. Operational Efficiency: By refining the operational architecture, the project enhances communication and collaboration among teams, ensuring that workflows are transparent and effective.
3. Technological Integration: The system architecture supports essential functionalities such as authentication, payment gateways, and external service integrations (e.g., DocuSign, SMS services), providing a comprehensive solution for users.

Process

Outcomes

At YourSpace, I designed and developed the backend architecture for the company’s first online app, enabling seamless resident access to essential services. The system optimized operational workflows, improved service delivery, and fostered community engagement.
